Arris TG852Gv2 routers include a very basic firewall that helps protect your home network form unwanted access from the internet. Since this firewall blocks incoming connections you may need open a port through it for certain games and applications. This process of opening a port is frequently called a port forward, since you are forwarding a port from the internet to your home network.
Lol, I found this on another Web cam. Never thought to blog it. The same here. Mine is one of the VStarCam's IP cameras with root telnet access (and the password 123456, too) and cloud connections to Chinese servers.
The basic process to open a port is:
- Setup a static ip address on either your computer or device that you want to forward a port to.
- Login to your Arris TG852Gv2 router.
- Navigate to the port forwarding section.
- Click the Advanced link.
- Click on Port Forwarding.
- Click the Add Service button.
- Create a port forward entry.
While these steps might seem difficult at first, we will walk you through each step for your Arris TG852Gv2 router.

Step 1
It is important to setup a static ip address in the device that you are forwarding a port to. This ensures that your ports will remain open even after your device reboots.

Now we are going to login to your Arris TG852Gv2 router. Your router has a web interface, so you will login to it using your web browser. This can be either Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, or Edge. It usually does not matter which browser you choose to use.
Open up your web browser and find the address bar. It should look something like this:
In the picture above the address bar has 10.0.0.1 in it. Just replace all of that with the IP address of your Arris TG852Gv2 router. Your router's ip address can also be refered to as your computer's default gateway.
By default the IP address is set to: 10.0.0.1
After entering the IP address of your router you can simply press enter. If all goes well you will see the following screen:
You should see a box prompting you for your username and password.
- The Default Arris TG852Gv2 Router Username is: admin
- The Default Arris TG852Gv2 Router Password is: password
Enter your username and password, and then click the Login button to log in to your Arris TG852Gv2 router.

Now we need to find the port forwarding section in your router. Here's how you do it. Starting from the first page in your router:
Click the Advanced link near the left of the page.
You should now see a new menu. In this new menu, click Port Forwarding.
Click the Add Service button near the center of the page.
Step 4
Now we are ready to enter some data in your router. In order to show you exactly how to configure your router we need you to answer 2 questions:

Now that you have forwarded ports for on the Arris TG852Gv2 you should test to see if your ports are forwarded correctly.

If you want to reset your IP Camera to factory defaults, you can use the following 3 methods. After resetting the device you will lose all your settings except Client Settings.
Method 1:Hard reset/ By pressing the RESET button
Keep the device powered on for at least 30 seconds to complete its normal startup.
Step 2
Find something like a pin to press the Reset button on the camera and hold it for 15 seconds to restore the settings to factory defaults.
Afterwards release Reset button, and the camera will be restored to factory defaults after rebooting.
Note: Reboot process takes about 1 min, please be patient.
Method 2:By using Intelligent IP Installer
Install the Intelligent IP Installer with the CD.
Step 2
Run the Intelligent IP Installer. Click Search to find your device.
Step 3
Select your Camera in UPnP device list, click Factory default on the right side.
Step 4
Type the username and password in the login page, the default username and password are both admin. Wait for the device to reboot.
If you changed the username and password before and forgot the username and password, you have to follow Method 1, make a hard reset.
Note: Reboot process takes about 1 min, please be patient
Method 3:By using Web-based Utility (management page)
Open the web browser and type the IP address of the IP Camera into the address bar, press Enter. If you have changed the default port number is 80, Then type the IP address of the camera: new port number into the address bar of web browser.
Step 2
Type the username and password in the login page, the default username and password are both admin. Then click OK to connect to the device.
Step 3
Click SETTING -> BASIC -> Initialize on the left side, and then click Factory default to reset this IP Camera to the factory default settings.
Keep waiting until the progress bar shows completion.
